921 – Principles of Engineering (POE) Honors – 1 credit

• Full Year – Prerequisites: Introduction to Engineering Design -or- completion of Algebra II with a grade of B or higher
• Grades 9-12, Fee

This course is focused on increasing students’ knowledge of engineering related skills. The class covers technical writing, sketching, and engineering as a profession. It will also present the students with design challenges in the fields of simple machines, mechanics, structural stress analysis, robotics, and projectile motion. The course relates engineering to social and political consequences of technical change and innovation. POE contains rigorous applied physics and mathematics in an engineering context. Students must take Intro Engineering Design OR complete Algebra II with a grade of B or higher.
