Early Childhood Education

Prepare for careers as a licensed childcare provider, teacher, teaching assistant or aide, nanny, social worker, or any career working with children. Students who train in this program are given the best real-world experience: work in state-licensed learning centers and preschools in the Lancaster Community, where they develop essential skills in teaching and leadership, managing toddlers and infants, and lesson planning. Students who have a heart and mind for children are perfect for this program that develops future early childhood educators and influences the future of children by shaping their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.

In the ECE program, students will use research and creative problem-solving to deliver developmentally appropriate materials for young children. In this program, you will work in Lancaster City School preschool center, playing an essential role in caring for young children from the community. This program meets the standards of the Child Development Associate National Credentialing Program (CDA). Students may apply for the CDA credential upon successful completion of CDA requirements. Lancaster High School follows the standards from the National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation and the Early Learning Content Standards for Pre-K children set by the State of Ohio.
