Read Online and Download The Girl Who Did Say No (Bibliomysteries) by David Handler. Ex-bestselling author Stewart Hoag is after a tell-all Hollywood diary in this short mystery from the Edgar Award–winning author.  Once upon a time, Stewart “Hoagy†Hoag was a celebrity author married to a famous actress. But after a serious case of writer’s block, Hoagy lost it all. Now, with nobody but his loyal basset hound, Lulu, by his side, Hoagy intends to get back on top by transcribing the salacious tell-all diary of recently deceased actress Anna Childress.  It was a foolproof plan—except that Hoagy isn’t the only one after the legendary journal. Suddenly, he and Lulu are up against a who’s who of powerful studio execs, all clamoring to keep a generation’s worth of Hollywood dirt from reaching the public.
Amazing short mystery by David Handler. There is so much plot and character development here for such a short work. Besides the ebook version, I also have the signed hard back. If you have a chance to get one those you should. It’s a beautiful book. Hoagy and Lulu return to LA and meet up with the familiar detective Emile Lamp, who was featured in The Man Who Died Laughing and The Boy Who Never Grew Up. This time a safe deposit box is going to be opened on live TV, to unveil the diary of a dead Hollywood starlet who wrote down every dark secret in Hollywood.
Short, complete story with all the details needed, and characters galore. A few reappear from previous novels, giving it continuity in the Hoagie-verse. 😊
I echo VPers - had I known this wasn't a full novel, I wouldn't have purchased at that price. And are we supposed to assume who ended up with thE McGuffin?
Great novella from David Handler. I can’t wait until his next novel is out!
To be honest I have not yet read this book, however, I expect it to be as well written as his others. My main reason for this review in advance is to express some disappointment that this is a novelette (57 pages) and not a full length book. Shame on me for not reading more about this book’s length, but given that this is being sold almost the same price as his full length books I am disappointed. I wish I had waited to buy this and not pre-purchased it since someone probably would have mentioned the length of this book in their review) Full disclosure: I bought this book on another book store website.
