- Altcoin DailyYour super quick and easy "gateway" book to learn about Bitcoin BEFORE reading any other deeper or more technical stuff (and learning that deep technical stuff would be optional, if you're not a tech geek... just like people know about what a car is, without having to learn about the technical mechanics of an automotive engine). For those who may want to go slightly more technical and a bit deeper, the author provides an optional free "cheat-sheet" on his website, which he mentions at the end of the book.Written by best-selling author David Michael Ledesma whose Youtube channel and website MBA Bull has garnered over 130,000 subscribers and 15 MILLION video views worldwide in the MBA tutorial niche, by simplifying tough business school topics using cartoon animation.A very quick and concise book for both you and your friends to enjoy! This book will make Bitcoin SUPER EASY to UNDERSTAND in a cute, fun, and (MOSTLY) NON-TECHNICAL way without the hype... for Bitcoiners, skeptics, and even critics alike!)
Don't take my word for the worthlessness of this book. Let's see what the author himself says. The author spends the first 30 pages talking about seashells and other forms of money--which might be fun and games if you’re five-year-old. Then he spends only five pages talking about Bitcoin. So what does he say in those five pages? The following three quotes constitute EVERYTHING the author says about Bitcoin in his book. Not one sentence or one word about Bitcoin has been left out in this review (other than the author's self-promotions about Bitcoin at the end of the book, which comprise more verbiage about Bitcoin than his entire text about it). So below is everything you will learn about Bitcoin from his book."A possible solution might be Bitcoin! Bitcoin is a worldwide digital money which is not controlled or centralized by any government, bank, location, or corporation. It has a strict limited supply as there will only ever be 21 million Bitcoins forever and ever. It can easily be transferred digitally around the world with reasonable speed. It is unstoppable by governments, banks, or corporations even if the internet is cut off.""Instead of transfer using banks, it's done using a "blockchain" which is not centralized. Blockchain is technical to explain, so let's just imagine it's millions [untrue] of independent citizens and their computers around the world working together and checking each other to honestly record transactions between you and me. These independent citizens also earn Bitcoin for this service.""Bitcoin is not a physical coin. It is digital like email, which you cannot touch and hold. It can be divided, subdivided, transferred, bought, or sold in decimals."That last sentence is the abrupt ending of the body of his book, followed by four pages of the author’s promotions. So if you want to pay the author $13.95 for this explanation of Bitcoin, which probably took him minutes to write (the cartoons were produced by others), that is your choice. As for me, I’m returning my copy to Amazon.
The author does not understand and therefore misrepresents the origin of money and the basis of the value of money in the absence of state fiat. Money originated not as arbitrary tokens chosen by agreement, but as commodities with marginal value for a wide enough share of the population that it was relatively safe to take these commodities in trade for the purpose of trading away for other things that one could use. The author also does not understand marginal value, which is the value lost if a unit of good or service is lost, or the value gained if a unit is gained. The author's failure to understand these points results in his arguing that Bitcoin may be accepted as money for no better reason than that its production is intrinsically braked.
This book is not really worth the money I paid for it, in my opinion. It doesn't really explain Bitcoin, it explains money. It fails to explain even fundamental concepts of how Bitcoin has any value, for example, or why anyone would accept it as a form of currency, or how to accumulate Bitcoin. So, the title of the book is misleading, as far as I'm concerned.
This book purports to be an introduction to BitCoin, but of the 52 pages, only 8 are actually devoted to BitCoin, while the rest are either advertisements for the author's website or an exceedingly misinformed discussion of why money has value that is laughable to anyone has taken even a high school economics class. Cryptocurrency has its uses and may have real value, but all you'll find here are the same tired anti-government arguments that are already familiar to cryptocurrency enthusiasts everywhere. If you believe the argument there's nothing new here and if you don't, there's nothing here to change your mind.If you're looking for real information on how BitCoin and cryptocurrencies work you won't find it here. I got this book for free and still do not recommend it.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book.If you have no idea what Bitcoin is or where to start, this is the perfect book. The author explains Bitcoin well and gives you additional resources to expand your understanding.Great read. Highly recommend.
