Read Online and Download Chance Encounter by David Horne. Alexander Woodward wasn’t looking for love. His entire goal in life was to keep a low profile and stay out of trouble. He was trying to leave his past behind. The last thing he needed was the neighbor next door making him drop his guard. But, there he was, Benjamin Langtry, a man that Alex never thought he would have any interest in. As Benjamin sat there, stuck in a computer programming project he was currently in, Alex couldn’t help but watch. Alex wondered if it was really worth getting involved with Benjamin knowing the kind of trouble that could be following Alex. He was on the run from a past that he couldn’t make up for. Alex knew he had to resist the temptation. There was no way that he could let Benjamin get hurt over this. If that meant that Alex had to walk away and let Benjamin think what he wanted to think, that was what he was going to do. After all, Benjamin deserved better than an ex-gang member who worked at a bar as a bouncer. Benjamin deserved more than the life Alex could give him. Please Note: This book contains adult language and steamy adult activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Novel, approximately 30,000 words in length. HEA (happy ever after ending). Does not end with a "cliffhanger." Themes include: Bad boy, Alpha, Omega, love next door, unexpected love, redemption.
This was a good read! Their is some angst, some highs and lows between Alex and Ben, but all couples start out that way. I enjoyed this book and spent the evening sitting in front of the fire place reading. Author David Horne continues his endless stream of ideas for gay romance novels. The consistently high quality of his novels has brought him success in writing Gay Romances and he has gathered a solid following of readers. How does his growth as an author show? By his lack of fear in taking on themes that include the various forms of isolation, resonances of the past arising in the present with the concomitant confusion of emotional responses – both positive and negative, finding a path for his romantic leads to explore not only each other’s expectations but also the peripheral surprises that life deals us – and how we overcome them.David’s ability to capture personalities realistically is obvious in his opening, as we meet Alexander Woodward: “Moving was going to suck. There was something about moving that could make even the toughest guy just want to toss everything that he owned out the window. Not that Alex owned much. It was mostly a few boxes and some old furniture his uncle loaned him. Still, that was enough to make him want to give it all away and move somewhere furnished. He grunted as he pulled the mattress out of the small moving van. “A new start.†It was almost a chant as he started to fight it up to the third floor. “How does anyone move without an elevator?†He knew that he was grumbling, but it didn’t seem like anyone was looking at him. It didn’t surprise him at all. He knew what this kind of neighborhood was like. Nobody ever saw anything. It was the way people survived in a place like this. Keep their heads down and stay out of other people’s business. Especially the business of strangers. He would find no friendly faces here. That was theway that he liked it. No one was going to bother him. Not in a place like this.’The story – ‘Alexander Woodward wasn’t looking for love. His entire goal in life was to keep a low profile and stay out of trouble. This is one fine little novel – a story that relates to everyone. Grady Harp, January 20I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book
Cuz this book could certainly use one. Decent story line, MCs are not bad, but mistakes among the MC names, Benjamin when it should have been Alex, made it hard to follow. Seemed to be some critical gaps during the story making it hard to connect timelines, again, making the story hard to follow. I truly love this author and I read most everything he writes, although there didn't seem to be enough effort put into the story or maybe the author is pumping out too many books and needs to slow down a bit and build his story better. AND GET A GOOD EDITOR!
This was a good story about how two people Alex and Benjamin meet. Both moving into the same apartment building. Alex having a rough comeback from a crazy life he got himself into coming back to his family's business and Benjamin going out on his own to start his own company. They meet and of course things never do goes smooth as you hope. Alex's bad past follows him and Benjamin gets in the middle to help him. This story does have a happy ending but the road is not smooth getting there. I read a complementary advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review
