Author David Horne continues his endless stream of ideas for gay romance novels. The consistently high quality of his novels has brought him success in writing Gay Romances and he has gathered a solid following of readers. How does his growth as an author show? By his lack of fear in taking on themes that include the various forms of isolation, resonances of the past arising in the present with the concomitant confusion of emotional responses – both positive and negative, finding a path for his romantic leads to explore not only each other’s expectations but also the peripheral surprises that life deals us – and how we overcome them.David offers a tale of love abandoned and re-sought and regained in a very sensitive story. His ability to capture personalities realistically is obvious in his opening: “Zeke Mathison grunted as he examined the bags under his eyes. The bathroom mirror told no lies about the state he was in. A few extra drinks the night before and it was going to be another long day at work. Maybe he shouldn’t have done it, but there was no going back now. It had been a fun night, but was it really worth it? He answered his own question as soon as he asked it. “Totally worth it.” He paused for a moment, considering taking one of the many sick days that he had piled up, but the thought was quickly pushed aside. Zeke didn’t just lie down and give up. That wasn’t the man that he wanted to be. However, he knew better than to let anyone see him like this. I like the characters Zeke and Tristan. They have history but haven’t seen each other in a long time. Also Zeke's partner is a hoot.When someone is out to get Tristan, Zeke, who is a cop, jumps in to protect him and tries to find out who is causing him troubles and trying to destroy his business. Between starting to fall for one another and trying to keep themselves alive this is what kept me not wanting to put this book down. I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

Was a little slow at start, but still awesome. What started with so many questions about why they broke up the first time. But, told the news that love can conquer so much.
