Read Online and Download Written in the Stars by David Horne. Hank Langford is a writer. He creates beautiful and abstract worlds that the world can lose themselves in, day in and day out. He fleshes out characters that his audience know far better than they could ever know him, and he hooks the reader with a light dusting of a fleeting glance that turns more meaningful. Somewhere in between it all, the characters fall deeply in love with each other.Hank Langford has spent his entire adulthood writing another character’s love story, but for the first time, it’s his story which is being written for him. Does love prevail in his story? Is Hank the hero or the villain? Please Note: This book contains adult language and steamy adult activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Novel, approximately 30,000 words in length. HEA (happy ever after ending). Does not end with a "cliffhanger." Themes include: Writer, Chicago, Los Angeles, Wedding, Family, Daddy Issues, Death, Travel, Airport, Letters, Love.
Comes another great story. I don't know how he does it but I find it very hard to put down his books once I have started reading. Onward to the next...
Hank is a writer. A little bit disappointed in the world around hi probably in himself also, happy that he’s living on the other side of country away from his family i.e. his father. There is a wedding in the family and he has to go back. His sister, the nervous bride, said that there is someone special for him in the wedding party but he doesn’t want to know anything about it.And than he sees Beckett and wants him. It’s not easy for Hank to admit his wants so there are some turmoil...You should read this book since it’s better that way but know that it is sweet. And Toodles is a great name.I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review."
I found the first portion of the story to be sad; as Hank seemed to be so alone and if it was not for a family wedding I wonder if he and Beckett would have ever got together? As his love interest did not show up till over 1/2 way through the book. I am glad that they got together, just wish it was sooner. Being a novella, it was short and too the point. Author David Horne very quietly introduces a new facet of his artistry with this brief but creatively imbued novella. He uses that respected literary tradition of challenging the reader to decide as to what is real and what is imagined, and he doesn’t make that the raison d'être for the plot: it is simply a possible view of the interesting circumstances of his story.Manifold issues are woven together in this tale - traumas of the past, discoveries from a once distant father whose brother committed suicide on being discovered he was gay, wish fulfillment, and more. The sensitive reader will gain clues form the opening page – ‘Hank was a writer. He created beautiful and abstract worlds that the world could lose themselves in the day in and day out. He fleshed out characters that his audience knew far better than they could ever know him, and he hooked the reader with a light dusting of a fleeting glance that turned more meaningful and somewhere in between it all, the characters fell deeply in love with each other. He spent hours researching topics, developing ideas, and cranking out a few hundred words of his first paragraph before returning to it the next day only to delete it all and start from scratch. He toiled on, considering the most significant interactions he could between his male and female lead; drugs, parties, drinking, sex, and found something between those lines. He based characters on himself, ex- girlfriends, his father and friends….’With a storyline that is brief but pungent, it is important not to add too much plot development, and the provided synopsis accomplishes that – ‘Hank Langford is a writer. He creates beautiful and abstract worlds that the world can lose themselves in, day in and day out. He fleshes out characters that his audience know far better than they could ever know him, and he hooks the reader with a light dusting of a fleeting glance that turns more meaningful. Hank Langford has spent his entire adulthood writing another character’s love story, but for the first time, it’s his story which is being written for him. Does love prevail in his story? Is Hank the hero or the villain?’The romance between Hank and Beckett is fascinating – and erotic – and will satisfy David’s many admirers. Add to that an acknowledgment of this new parameter for relating romance, and this will be recognized as a major step. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, September 19I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel
I loved this store for more reasons than I can write here. But it reminded me of one of my favorite songs by CSNY. Children often make the wrong assumptions about their parents. This story has this theme. Never knowing his fathers love for him. Feeling the loss of one's sister. He finally met someone that opened heart. Learning of the fears that drove his father to be the man he thought he was. This is a very endearing love story. Brother and sister, man and lover, son and father. The last feeling I'm left with was it was too short."I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review."Thank You, DavidYour Avid ReaderDaveC
