This subject is for students who are ready to take their practice seriously.
This subject is designed for students who are ready to commit to their creative practice.
You will work like a real artist. Students, focus on developing strong technical skills through focused studio time to learn techniques. From there, work to engaging in regular feedback and critique, and producing a major resolved artwork across the semester. The program introduces you to contemporary art practices, provides opportunities to collaborate with arts professionals, and includes a professional exhibition experience through the La Trobe Art Institute.
The works will be presented in a public curated exhibition, where you'll present your work to an audience with an artist statement written yourself.
This subject is not a standard art class. It's a skills-focused, studio-based program designed for students who want depth, challenge, and a meaningful outcome — and who may be thinking about VCE Art Making & Exhibiting, Visual Communication Design, or VET Visual Arts or a future in the creative industries — and who want to start building that foundation.
