We are thrilled to introduce a new opportunity for S5 & S6 students to gain two qualifications and an additional certificate through the Young Enterprise Company Programme. Over the course of a full academic year, students will start their own company, navigating key milestones such as idea development, market research, product or service creation, promotion, and trading.

In this course, you'll learn to start and run a company, develop ideas, conduct market research, create products or services, and market them effectively. You'll also gain skills in financial management, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and communication, providing a hands-on learning experience for future success.
Business Formation: An Introduction (FJ3F 12)
This Unit focuses on the skills and knowledge needed to move a business idea to the start up stage. Candidates learn about different types of business models, finance and sources of help required to be successful in starting a business.
Business Skills and Behaviours (FJ3J 12)
This Unit enables candidates to enhance the skills and behaviours necessary for success in business. The skills in this Unit are transferable and would therefore benefit anyone operating in a business environment.
Business Formation: Commercial Aspects and the Law (FJ3K 12)
This Unit introduces candidates to the relevant legal considerations when starting a business. Candidates learn about contractual agreements, regulations that need to be complied with and sources of legal assistance for business start up.
Finance and E-Business (FJ3H 12)
This Unit introduces candidates to sources of funding and financial advice for a new business, and the importance of the accurate management of finance within a business. Candidates will learn about a range of financial options available to new businesses including use of secure payments through the internet.
Business Formation: Developing a Business Idea (FJ3G 12)
In this Unit, candidates research a proposed business idea and begin the planning process for a new business. Candidates will learn the importance of effective marketing strategies, a positive business identity, and customer care.
The Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) Company Programme, in partnership with Glasgow Kelvin College, targets aspiring entrepreneurs in S5 and S6. Participants can earn a qualification equivalent to a Higher, with the full course award valued at 26-30 Credit Points at SCQF Level 6.
Students will complete tasks and upload evidence of their business enterprise to gain the qualification throughout the year to a portal for work to be reviewed. This is completed in partnership with Young Enterprise Scotland and Kelvin College. There are four units to complete.
Young Enterprise Scotland (YE Scotland) is a registered charity and has been working to support young people in Scotland for over 40 years. YE Scotland run a variety of enterprise and entrepreneurship programmes for young people aged 5 to 30 in primary and secondary schools, FE colleges, universities, prisons, secure and residential units and with community groups.
Strathclyde Business School are delighted to support the YE Scotland Company Programme, which has been designed to offer a realistic business experience to S5 and S6 secondary school students. By starting up their own companies they will develop their practical skills and their understanding of the world of business throughout this year long entrepreneurial experience.
Candidates may pass or gain a credit or distinction. Certificates are not awarded to ungraded candidates. The exam does not carry any UCAS points.

Everything you need to know before selecting this course
Homework will be set by the class teacher on a regular basis, this will be available on TEAMs. Activities set may include practice of a practical skill, preparation for assessment or research for an assignment.
This course is internally assessed for the Business and Enterprise NPA. The Young Enterprise coursework is assessed in partnership with Young Enterprise Scotland and Kelvin College.
By completing unit assessments pupils will generate evidence from a range of practical administration and business activities. Students will need to be willing to work as part of a team in the running of their business enterprise which forms part of their assessment.
Entry is at the discretion of the Principal Teacher Faculty, E&ICT.
Pupil's must be self motivated and willing to complete tasks individually and in groups to meet deadlines.
