In this course, you'll learn to start and run a company, develop ideas, conduct market research, create products or services, and market them effectively. You'll also gain skills in financial management, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and communication, providing a hands-on learning experience for future success.
Students will be supported by their class teacher, with support from an industry business advisor, in addition to visiting guest speakers. Our Young Enterprise cohort host a Business Breakfast event as part of their programme. Find out more about this here: Young Enterprise Business Breakfast - DYW
The Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) Company Programme, in partnership with Glasgow Kelvin College, targets aspiring entrepreneurs in S5 and S6. Participants can earn a qualification equivalent to a Higher, with the full course award valued at 26-30 Credit Points at SCQF Level 6. This qualification can support the entry requirements for some university courses - please see Mr Thomson (E&ICT) for more info on this.
Students will complete tasks and upload evidence of their business enterprise to gain the qualification throughout the year to a portal for work to be reviewed. This is completed in partnership with Young Enterprise Scotland and Kelvin College. There are four units to complete.
Young Enterprise Scotland (YE Scotland) is a registered charity and has been working to support young people in Scotland for over 40 years. YE Scotland run a variety of enterprise and entrepreneurship programmes for young people aged 5 to 30 in primary and secondary schools, FE colleges, universities, prisons, secure and residential units and with community groups.
Strathclyde Business School are delighted to support the YE Scotland Company Programme, which has been designed to offer a realistic business experience to S5 and S6 secondary school students. By starting up their own companies they will develop their practical skills and their understanding of the world of business throughout this year long entrepreneurial experience.
Candidates may pass or gain a credit or distinction. Certificates are not awarded to ungraded candidates. The exam does not carry any UCAS points.

Homework will be set by the class teacher on a regular basis, this will be available on TEAMs. Activities set may include practice of a practical skill, preparation for assessment or research for an assignment.
Entry is at the discretion of the Principal Teacher Faculty, E&ICT.
Pupil's must be self motivated and willing to complete tasks individually and in groups to meet deadlines.
The Young Enterprise coursework is assessed in partnership with Young Enterprise Scotland and Kelvin College.
By completing unit assessments pupils will generate evidence from a range of practical administration and business activities. Students will need to be willing to work as part of a team in the running of their business enterprise which forms part of their assessment.
