The course will provide pupils with the opportunity to develop thinking skills, enterprising/communication skills, collecting, processing, comparing and interpreting/evaluating information. There will be opportunities to use and develop skills in ICT.

Within Higher pupils have to further extend skills by working at a fast pace, using more complex technical business terminology and interpreting/ comparing complex information sources.
This course is relevant to anyone that is interested in developing their knowledge and skill set through various aspects of managing a business.
The aim of this course is to provide pupils with a broad range of business skills covering Level 4 experiences and outcomes. These will include:
How and why businesses develop and operate in today’s society.
Evaluating and examining external factors and their impact on individuals, businesses and Communities.
The role of business and entrepreneurship within society.

Homework will be set by the class teacher on a regular basis, this will be available on TEAMs. Activities set may include practice of a practical skill, preparation for assessment or research for an assignment.
Knowledge and skills will be assessed in different ways, depending on the unit being studied; this will include coursework and class tests. Pupils will use assessment to set achievable short term targets. Coursework is worth 25% of full course award which is an assignment set by the SQA. Written external exam set by SQA is worth 75% of the full course award, and this covers course knowledge.
Entry is at the discretion of the Principal Teacher Faculty, E&ICT However, as a guide:
Pass (A-D) at National 5 Business Management
*Please note that a level of literacy is required to be successful with Higher Business Management
*Candidates with no prior experience with Business Management are required to discuss direct entry to Higher, with decision based on success in literate subject areas (e.g English, social subjects.).
