What will you learn?

Technical Graphics and Commercial and Visual Graphics will be covered throughout this course. Both areas must be completed with designs, drawings and work evidencing pupil's ability prior to starting their assignment.

This course is for pupils who enjoy using technology and developing creativity. Skills gained in this course would help learners gain entry to apprenticeships, further study or careers such as; Design, Media, Gaming, Architecture, Construction & Engineering, Sales & Business, Entertainment.

What will you experience?

A problem-solving design based approach is used in the presentation work, setting learners with open design briefs. The projects will allow pupils to experience working in both the engineering and architecture fields of technical graphics as well as the advertising and graphic design field of commercial and visual graphics.

Pupils will enjoy working through current industry standard techniques using software such as Inventor and the Serif Suite.

Higher -The course assessment has two mandatory components:

  • Design Assignment 50 marks 36%

  • Question Paper 90 marks 64%


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry is at the discretion of the Principal Teacher Faculty, Art, Design & Technologies. However, as a guide:

  • A pass at National 5 Graphic Communication.

  • Completion of another subject at Higher level within the faculty.

Homework

Homework will be set by the class teacher on a regular basis, this will be available on TEAMs.
