Across the course pupils develop their literacy skills, focusing on reading, writing, talking and listening. Pupils develop increased comprehension abilities and increased confidence in writing in a variety of styles and contexts.
Level 6 Communications is a robust qualification which offers pupils increased flexibility and independence in their learning. While it does not replace Higher English, we believe it offers a flexible and adaptive approach to developing literacy skills.
We would recommend this course for pupils seeking to increase their literacy skills in S5 before attempting Higher English in S6 and for those who would benefit from a coursework driven approach to their learning.
Learners in Level 6 Communication will be expected to:
Explore a variety of texts and discuss their reactions to them
Respond to prompts and questions
Discuss complex issues and themes
Plan and create various types of writing
Work independently and in groups to develop understanding and prepare verbal and ICT driven presentations.
