The course will provide pupils with the opportunity to develop thinking skills, enterprising/communication skills, collecting, processing, comparing and interpreting/evaluating information. There will be opportunities to use and develop skills in ICT.

Administrative Practices
Communication in Administration
IT Solutions for Administrators
Within Higher, pupils have to further extend skills by working at a fast pace, using complex problems within Microsoft Office Software including Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
The course will allow pupils to develop IT, communication and organisational skills. High standards of literacy and numeracy are expected as well as the ability to select and evaluate information.
This course best suits pupils who both enjoy and are comfortable using computers and computer software. Pupils who have an eye for detail, organisational/problem solving skills may really enjoy this subject. Administration & IT requires a level of confidence with Numeracy/Literacy as pupils are exposed to the ‘real world’ business challenges.
Everything you need to know before selecting this course
Homework will be set by the class teacher on a regular basis, this will be available on TEAMs. Activities set may include practice of a practical skill, preparation for assessment or research for an assignment.
Knowledge and practical skills will be assessed in different ways, depending on the unit being studied; this will include portfolio work, class tests (theory and practical). Pupils will use assessment to set achievable short term targets. Practical assessment is worth 25% of full course award which is an assignment set by the SQA. Written external exam set by SQA worth final 75% covers course knowledge
Entry is at the discretion of the Principal Teacher Faculty, E&ICT However, as a guide:
Pass (A-D) at National 5 Admin & IT
*Please note that a level of literacy and numeracy is required to be successful with Higher Admin & IT.
*Candidates with no prior experience with Admin & IT are required to discuss direct entry to Higher, with decision based on success in numerate subject areas (e.g maths, sciences).
