INS Baix Empordà - 2019

La idea de fer aquest treball de recerca sorgeix d’una experiència personal: el meu cosí Oriol, que va néixer al cap de només 28 setmanes de gestació. En ell vaig veure la fragilitat, però també l’ajuda dels metges, la preocupació, i sobretot, la força de la vida per tirar endavant. A partir d’aquest moment es va despertar en mi una viva curiositat i vaig pensar que gràcies al meu treball podria donar resposta a tot el conjunt de preguntes que se’m plantejaven. He arribat a la conclusió que la prematuritat és un fet molt més habitual del que en pensa la societat, hi ha molts factors de risc que poden desencadenar-la. Els nens no han de patir necessàriament cap tipus de dificultat o malaltia durant el desenvolupament. Tanmateix, la part del treball que m’ha resultat més motivadora ha estat la resultant del seguiment de l’evolució de la Joana i l’anàlisi de dades dels 37 nadons de la comarca del Baix Empordà.

It was a personal experience which brought me the idea of doing this research: my cousin Oriol, who was born with only 28 weeks gestation. Although I could see his fragility, I also could appreciate the help from the doctors, their concerns about him and most of all the life-force to go ahead. From that moment I felt a huge curiosity about the matter and I thought that thanks to my project I could find answers to every questions coming to my mind about Oriol. I have become aware that prematurity is something not so unusual as society thought, I realized as well that there are many risk factors that may trigger a premature birth but to be preterm doesn’t mean that the baby is going to suffer any disease or delay of normal development of the person. But the most interesting and motivating part of my work has been the result of Joana´s evolution monitoring and the data analysis of the 37 babies from the Baix Empordà.
