INS Baix Empordà - 2017

Durant la Segona Guerra Mundial, dels prop de 40.000 republicans espanyols que van col·laborar amb la Resistència, aproximadament uns 10.000 van ser internats en diferents camps de concentració nazis. Aquest treball de recerca tracta sobre tots aquells aspectes relacionats amb el dia a dia dels republicans espanyols en un d’aquests camps, al camp de concentració de Mauthausen-Gusen, situat a l’actual Àustria.

Donat l'ascens en els últims temps dels moviments feixistes i neonazis és important que tots siguem conscients del que va passar fa només setanta anys i on els republicans catalans i espanyols hi tingueren un paper molt important, tant en la lluita contra el feixisme i el nazisme, com en la lluita per la supervivència i la dignitat en uns recintes que els negaven des del primer moment la seva condició d’homes.

A partir del relat dels supervivents comprovarem si existeixen coincidències entre les fonts històriques i els testimonis de les víctimes.

During the II World War, approximately 10,000 Spanish republicans from nearly 40,000 who collaborated with the Resistencia, were sent to different Nazi concentration camps. My research is about those aspects related with the Spanish republicans every day life in one of these camps, Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp, sited in the current Austria.

Due to the fascist and neo-nazi movements rising in the recent years, it is important that everybody was aware of everything what happened just only seventy years ago, awhere the Spanish and Catalan republicans had a very important role, both in the fight against Fascism and Nazism and in fighting for surviving and dignity confined in places where their human conditions were denied from the very first moment.

From the survivors’ reports, we will check if there are coincidences between historical records and the victims’ testimonies.
