Professor Emeritus/Librarian Emeritus/Distinguished Lecturer & Critic

To recognize long service by RISD Full-time Faculty, Professional Librarians, and Part-time Faculty; to facilitate their continued post-retirement relationship with the RISD community; and to provide them basic access to resources that will encourage their engagement with the RISD community.

Assistant Professor Emeritus, Associate Professor Emeritus, or Professor Emeritus status is granted to full-time faculty (including Deans) retiring from RISD after at least twenty years of service in good standing, with title designation based on rank.  Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor Emeriti receive the following benefits:

●     Lifetime Museum membership

●     Use of the RISD Library

●     Continued use of a RISD email address (may require forwarding to a non-RISD email address)

●     Faculty ID card, which grants access to the Library & Museum

●     Added to a retired faculty/librarian email list to be used for alumni digital subscriptions and major college news

●     Continued listing on College website

●     Participation in Convocation and Commencement

●     Degree program audit privileges, with permission of the instructor

Distinguished Librarian status is granted to librarians (including Deans or Directors) retiring from RISD after at least twenty years of service in good standing.  Distinguished Librarians receive the following benefits:

●     Lifetime Museum membership

●     Use of the RISD Library

●     Continued use of a RISD email address (may require forwarding to a non-RISD email address)

●     Faculty ID card, which grants access to the Library & Museum

●     Added to a retired faculty/librarian email list to be used for alumni digital subscriptions and major college news

Distinguished Critic/Lecturer status is granted to adjunct faculty members retiring from RISD in good standing after a minimum of twenty years of service.

Distinguished Critic/Lecturers receive the following benefits:

●     Lifetime Museum membership

●     Use of the RISD Library

●     Continued use of a RISD email address (may require forwarding to a non-RISD email address)

●     Faculty ID card, which grants access to the Library & Museum

●     Added to a retired faculty/librarian email list to be used for alumni digital subscriptions and major college news
