Academic Standing Committee

The Academic Standing Committee is responsible for actions concerning academic status, including academic probation and academic dismissal; for readmission of students who have left due to withdrawal or academic dismissal; for advising the Provost, other administrative officers, and the Instruction Committee in matters concerning academic programs; and for making recommendations to the Faculty via the Academic Policies/Instruction Committee for any actions necessary to insure the fulfillment of basic policies set by the Faculty. The Committee enforces, interprets, and applies academic policies and regulations at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Membership includes five faculty members, three elected by the faculty and two appointed by the Provost, plus ex-officio members from relevant administrative offices.

Typically there are all-day meetings in January and June to review cases of those students who were not in good academic standing during the previous semester.

The Academic Standing Committee is supported by Beth Papagolos, bpapagol@risd.edu.
