Building Hours Exception Request

Each year the hours during which academic facilities are available for student use are established and published on the Registrar’s Office website in the FAQ section. In most cases, buildings and studios are accessible by students using their campus ID.

Faculty members should encourage their students to plan their work so that it may be completed during the established building hours. If there is an academic reason to request an exception for a student or group of students, a faculty member must fill out a “Building Hours Exception Request” form and submit it to the department head who oversees the facilities in question. These requests go from the department head to Public Safety and must be approved in advance; no requests are permitted for the same day because of the difficulty of notifying Public Safety personnel. Students granted an exception must agree not to work alone or to prop open doors to buildings or studio. The form can be downloaded from this page (Public's Safety's Info page).
