Research Advisory Council

The Research Advisory Council, chaired by Sarah Cunningham, Associate Provost, Research + Strategic Partnerships, cultivates the varieties of faculty and student research at RISD, including artistic, design, scholarly, and scientific research; individual, group, and project-based research; clusters and labs.

This is achieved by:

    • Programming - Provide advice, planning, and organizational support for research programming (presentations, salons, debates, etc.)

    • Publication - Foster/create regular external communications on research, including pitches to RISD Media, content for the RISD Research website, posts on social media, and production of publications. Also produce annual report to faculty on research activity at the College.

    • Integrity Review - Maintain integrity for academic research, including review and/or recommendation of college policies and guidelines on research, grants, and workload.

    • Mentorship/Socialization - Collaborate as needed with RISD Research to provide faculty and students with information about, and assistance with, realizing research goals.

    • Connection - Coordinate with Dean of Faculty about the role of research opportunities, and with President's Office about community/government engagement.
