Contract Orientation
(full and part-time bargaining agreements)

Each autumn, as required by the Collective Bargaining Contract by and Between RISD and the Full-time Faculty Association and the Collective Bargaining Contract by and Between RISD and the Part-time Faculty Association, Academic Affairs hosts an orientation for department heads and deans concerning the policies and procedures regarding appointments and reappointments contained in the Contracts. Members of the Full-time  and Part-time Faculty associations and their counsel are invited to participate. 

New faculty are familiarized with and faculty preparing for critical review or promotion applications are reminded of the policies and procedures regarding appointments and reappointments in an annual Evaluation and Dossier Workshop designed to support faculty success. Academic Affairs organizes the Workshop to take place early in the fall semester. 

The Committee on Faculty Appointments (CFA) is given an orientation to its role in full-time faculty reappointment, critical review, and promotion processes in a special meeting prior to any business meetings of the committee.
