Message from Superintendent Derek Barrios

Message from Superintendent Derek Barrios:

Welcome to the Faulkton Area School District Website. Our mission is "We are Dedicated to Life-Long Learning”. To achieve this goal, the district strives to provide the highest-quality educational program possible through positive leadership, quality academics, and an array of opportunities for graduates.

My wife and I are natives of South Dakota, and come from Custer, SD most recently. I am starting my 10th year in the education field, all of which have been in South Dakota. I am very passionate about providing an education to our students that prepares them for life-long learning. We as a school district are charged with the responsibility to eliminate achievement gaps and also raise the achievement level for all of the students in our district. My focus is to build upon the outstanding work that is being done. The foundation that has been laid for the Faulkton Area School District is phenomenal, and I plan to continue to build upon that strong foundation. The district staff has a focus on each student with their safety, well-being, and academic achievement as the driving forces in the daily operation of the district.

The Faulkton Area School Board of Education and Administration strives to support students, teachers, and classified staff, with the intent of creating high morale and a safe, accountable learning environment, which fosters positive parent, staff, and community involvement. The district strives to make decisions based on the best interests of the students in the district.

The Faulkton Area School District has a proud past, exciting present, and limitless future!
