Faulkton Area School District 24-4 Board of Education

The special meeting of the Faulkton Area Schools 24-4 Board of Education was called to order by Chairman Heather Bode at 12:02 p.m. in the superintendent’s office.

Roll call of members present were Kelly Aesoph, Heather Bode, Gary Bowar, Todd Brand, and Grady Heitmann. Also present were Business Official Lisa Raethz and Tom Oster (Dakota Education Consulting).

2015-16.96. Agenda. Motion by Brand, seconded by Bowar, to approve the proposed agenda.

2015-16.97. Executive Session-Personnel/Candidate Interview Selection. Raethz introduced Tom Oster (Consultant with Dakota Education Consulting, contracted to assist in the hiring process of a new Superintendent) to the board members. Motion was then made by Aesoph, seconded by Brand, to go into executive session at 12:03 p.m. for the purpose of discussing the qualifications, competence, performance, character or fitness of any public officer or employee or prospective public officer or employee. The term "employee" does not include any independent contractor. As set forth in SDCL 1-25-2(1). Out of executive session at 1:21 p.m.

Interview Process. Mr. Oster explained the interview process that would take place on March 2, 2016. The process will be held at the school and will start at 3:40 p.m. with an orientation meeting for the board members and interview committee. Dakota Education will provide all involved with an interview schedule, interview guidelines, and a list of suggested questions and inadvisable questions to ask. The board Candidates will be interviewed. Raethz will plan a small meal and organize all room locations. The board thanked Oster and he left the meeting. The board then discussed the interview committee that will assist on that day.

2015-16.98. Executive Session-Personnel. Motion by Aesoph, second by Heitmann, to go into executive session at 1:51 p.m. for the purpose of discussing the qualifications, competence, performance, character or fitness of any public officer or employee or prospective public officer or employee. The term "employee" does not include any independent contractor. As set forth in SDCL 1-25-2(1). Out of executive session at 1:57 p.m.

2015-16.99. Resignation. Motion was made by Bowar, seconded by Aesoph, to accept the resignation of Noelle Swanson as Ag Education Teacher/FFA Advisor as of June 30, 2016 and advertise as directed. Unanimous.

2006 Ford Taurus Damage. Raethz reported that the school’s 2006 Ford Taurus has a crack in the rear bumper and provided a photograph for the board to review. Raethz stated the vehicle does have full coverage insurance on it with a $500 deductible but asked the board if they would like her to enter a claim for this damage. The board directed Raethz not to enter a claim.

2015-16.100. Adjournment. Motion by Heitmann, second by Bowar, to adjourn at 2:00 p.m. All in favor, motion carried.
