The special meeting of the Faulkton Area Schools 24-4 Board of Education was called to order by Chairman Heather Bode at 3:43 p.m. in the elementary library and then moved to the superintendent’s office.
Roll call of members present were Kelly Aesoph, Heather Bode, Gary Bowar, Todd Brand, and Grady Heitmann. Also present were Business Official Lisa Raethz, Secondary Principal/AD Craig Cassens, Tom Oster (Dakota Education Consulting), Slade Roseland (Mayor) and the Superintendent interview committee: Brice Cunningham, Nikki Melius, Mike Stahl, Michele Latt, Janet Reed, Jeremy Demery, Gloria Bode, Trisha Hadrick, Steve Roseland, Carrie Deiter, Kelly Melius, and Barb Pearson-Cramer.
2015-16.101. Agenda. Motion by Brand, seconded by Aesoph, to approve the proposed agenda. Unanimous. Chairman Bode, on behalf of the entire school board, then thanked everyone for donating their time and participating in the interview process. She introduced Tom Oster, Dakota Education Consulting, to everyone in attendance.
2015-16.102. Executive Session-Personnel/Superintendent Interviews. Motion was then made by Bowar, seconded by Brand, to go into executive session at 3:45 p.m. for the purpose of discussing the qualifications, competence, performance, character or fitness of any public officer or employee or prospective public officer or employee. The term "employee" does not include any independent contractor. As set forth in SDCL 1-25-2(1). Out of executive session at 10:39 p.m.
2015-16.103. Superintendent Contract. Motion was made by Brand, seconded by Bowar, to offer a contract to Derek Barrios, as Superintendent/Elementary Principal, with terms as negotiated.
2015-16.104. Adjournment. Motion by Aesoph, second by Heitmann, to adjourn at 10:40 p.m. All in favor, motion carried.
