Aside from my personal and team accomplishments during my 4 years with OPHS gymnastics, my time there is marked by memories of teammates/friends with whom I loved competing and cheering for and of a coach who ensured that we always had fun. The team aspect of gymnastics was not something I had much previous exposure to as club gymnastics is primarily an individual sport. The chance to compete as a team with OPHS Gymnastics helped fuel my desire to go on to compete in college, for which I am forever grateful. Another thing that always stood out about the culture of Prince William County High School Gymnastics was the camaraderie amongst the different schools. Although we competed against each other during high school competitions, many of us trained together outside of school for club gymnastics. We brought those friendships into the auditoriums during high school competitions, encouraging each other from across the lines. I have incredibly fond memories of my 4 years on the OPHS Gymnastics team.
After graduating from OP, I went on to compete Division III gymnastics at Ithaca College in New York. I competed as an all-around gymnast all 4 years. I served as co-captain during my junior and senior years. My college gymnastics accomplishments include: 8x All-American (athletic and academic); Empire 8 female scholar athlete of the year; 2x Eastern College Athletic Conference champion. I was later honored to be inducted into the Ithaca College Hall of Fame in 2018 and the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Division III Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2022.
I graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from Ithaca College with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and currently work in a hospital, providing care to patients with various medical and physical diagnoses, with a focus on stroke and vestibular rehabilitation. I live in Lexington, South Carolina with my husband Evans and our two children, Max (6) and Lena (4).
