Emily Arena Przybylowski (Emily C. Arena while at OPHS) played an integral role in building the OP girls cross country and track and field distance programs. A dedicated teammate and leader, Emily’s OP running career peaked in her senior year, during which she captured five district titles. She was also the Northwest Regional Champion in the 3200m (outdoor) and earned two time All State Honors in the 3200m. At the culmination of her time at OP, she was selected by faculty as the Charles E. Lipscomb Award recipient for Outstanding Graduate of the Class of 2005.
She went on to compete for the College of William and Mary in Women’s NCAA D1 Cross Country as well as Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field for four years. During her time running for the Tribe, she earned the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference title in the women’s 3000m steeplechase in 2008 and was two time All-Conference in this event. At William and Mary, Emily was selected as a James Monroe Scholar of her incoming class and graduated magna cum laude with her B.S. in biology in 2009. Afterwards, Emily attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine and graduated with her medical doctorate in 2015. She completed her residency training in Emergency Medicine in 2018 in New York City.
Emily currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband and 2 daughters where she practices as an emergency physician.
