While at Osbourn Park High School Andrew Dykstra played three varsity sports: football, wrestling, and soccer. Andrew was first-team all district and all region representative in both football and soccer, and honorable mention All-State in both sports his senior year. After winning the Male Athlete of the Year award, only given to seniors, Andrew turned down college football scholarship offers and went on to Virginia Commonwealth University where he played his collegiate career.
While in college he was a member of the CAA All-Rookie Team 2005; All-CAA Second Team 2008; Scholar All-East Third Team 2008. At the professional level, where Andrew spent 10 years he was a USL Champion in 2012, a US Open Cup Champion in 2013, and US Open Cup Champion in 2017. Despite going undrafted Andrew spent 10 years as a pro, played for 5 teams (8 if you include time on loan to Richmond Kickers, Swope Park Rangers and Charlotte Independence), and had multiple MLS Save of the Week nominees and winners. In 2011 Andrew was named Most Valuable Player for Charleston Battery while leading the USL Pro League in lowest Goals Against Average and fewest goals allowed.
Notable - Andrew broke his hand early in his senior year playing goalie and played in the field for the rest of the year where he led the Yellow Jackets in scoring.
Presently Andrew resides in Woodbridge with his wife Audrey Dykstra (also graduated from OP, 2004) and he have twin sons, James and Matthaeus, and a daughter, Freyja.
