Emma Skelley-Stoffa began swimming competitively on her local USA Swim Team, the Quantico Devil Dolphins (QDD) at age 13, and was a four-year varsity swimmer from 2010-2013.
Her high school career accolades include:
· Setting Virginia AAA Northwest Region records with first place finishes in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle at the 2013 regional championship
· In Virginia AAA state competition, she earned top 5 finishes in the 500 freestyle all four years she competed, culminating in silver medals her junior and senior seasons, as well as top 8 finishes in the 200 freestyle, placing the highest her junior year with a bronze medal
· First in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle at the 2013 Cardinal District Championship
· Osbourn Park school record holder in the women’s 500 freestyle
· Two-time Manassas News & Messenger All-Area Swimming First Team member
· Washington Post Second-Team All-Met honors in 2013
· Osbourn Park High Team MVP in 2011 and Most Improved in 2009
· Four-year Virginia AAA State Championship qualifier and seven-time finalist
· Member of the 2010-2013 USA Swimming Women’s Scholastic All-America team
· All-American cut time in the 500 freestyle her senior year
As a four-year scholarship athlete at West Virginia University, Emma excelled in both academics and athletics. In 2017, she received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for her dedication to a nonprofit focused on remediating her university’s local watershed, affected by acid mine drainage from abandoned coal mines. That year, she also won a school-wide award for the highest number of community service hours among female student-athletes, volunteering over 150 hours while balancing a full course load and serving as swim team captain. Emma is a recipient of the Dr. Gerald Lage Achievement Award, the highest academic honor from the Big 12 Conference, which gave her a scholarship that enabled her to pursue a master’s degree in public policy analysis (MPP) at American University. Additionally, she was recognized as a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Academic All-American in 2017 and was honored with a Big 12 Champions for Life distinction, awarded to student-athletes who make a positive impact on their university campuses.
Her WVU career accomplishments include:
· Silver medalist in the 2017 Big 12 Championship in the 1,650 freestyle
· Top 5 in both the 1,650 and 500 freestyle all four years she swam at the Big 12 Championship
· Academic All-Big 12 First Team (2017, 2016, 2015) and Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team (2014)

After graduating with her MPP, she married her high school sweetheart, and fellow OPHS hall of famer, Gregory Skelley-Stoffa.
Emma currently works for Merck KGaA, Darmstadt Germany, at the intersection of policy and communications to ensure executives are informed of government affairs topics that may impact operations. She has worked on the communications team at large organizations such as McKinsey & Company and Volkswagen Group. So far, her career highlights including serving as a public relations project manager for the highly successful 3-row ID. Buzz world premiere at VW and spearheading a successful "Get Out the Vote" campaign in her current role, providing resources for employees such as voter registration information and key issues the company is monitoring.
Emma and Greg live in Northen Virginia with their two dogs, Chili and Cleo. They still share a love of swimming and are members and serve on the board of their local masters swim team.
