Mike Holupka was born in Western Pennsylvania but has lived in Prince William County for over five decades. He has built businesses in, and brought jobs to, Prince William County. All three of his children, Tracey, Tricia and Bobby, are Osbourn Park graduates. Mike has been giving back to our great county for most of his life.
He first began volunteering with the Osbourn Park Boosters around 1998, when his son was a freshman at OP. He was invited to join as the ‘ways and means committee’. Rumor is, he really had no idea what that even meant, but he said yes! He walked into the very first meeting with three-ring binders for everyone, filled with ideas. These ideas included the Golf Tournament and Silent Auction. Twenty years later, both of these events remain the biggest fundraisers OP has every year. Mike served as the OP Booster President for six years, staying on even after his kids had all graduated.
But Mike’s commitment to Osbourn Park didn’t end there. Mike and his wife, Kathy, generously donated the stand-alone weight room. They also paid for the rebuild of the concession stand and the new outdoor restrooms. Through the boosters, Mike was able to get the new football practice field, including lights and sod, the track, and the storage units for the teams to use. Some of this was done even when Mike had no children at OP any longer, their children were all grown.
Mike’s career achievements span decades of success. In 2016 he was awarded the Heavy Construction Contractors Association Lifetime Achievement Award. He started three successful companies in Prince William County, The Anderson Company, B&B Signal, and Utilities Unlimited. He is the Chairman of Board of Gabriel Homes, a non-profit that provides independent living to adults living with Downs Syndrome.
In his private, retired life, Mike & Kathy enjoy spending time with their family, spoiling their five grandchildren, and are active with their church. Mike golfs regularly, spends time with good friends, and is always looking for ways to give back to his community. He regularly drives by a baseball field named in his honor at Cole’s Little League – another great testament of his impact to his community.
