Kelly McConnell Bierwirth was a multi-sport athlete during her time at Osbourn Park, earning varsity letters in Cross Country, Indoor Track, Field Hockey, Basketball, and Lacrosse. She began playing lacrosse as a sophomore and was a varsity starter all three years. Her lacrosse accolades include 2nd Team All-District (2003), 1st Team All-District (2004, 2005), District Player of the Year (2005), 1st Team All-Region (2004, 2005), Honorable Mention All-Metropolitan Team (2005), Potomac News Player of the Year (2005), Washington Post All Extra Player of the Year (2005), and Washington Post All Extra Team (2004, 2005). She was named the team MVP for Osbourn Park Lacrosse in 2004 and 2005, while also receiving the Female Athlete of the Year award in 2005.
Kelly continued playing lacrosse at Division II Pfeiffer University on a partial athletic scholarship, earning a starting position all four years. Her team was ranked in the top 10 in the nation in 2006 and 2007 and was named to the All-Tournament Team in 2006. In the summer of 2007, she was able to travel to Australia with USA Athletes International and participate on the Australian National Tournament.
After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, Kelly travelled in Australia before coming back to Virginia and working for the Fairfax County Government, in addition to being a Field Director, Coach, and Camp Director for Triple Edge Lacrosse.
Since then, she has spent a lot of time volunteering within the military community and has lived in Washington state, Oklahoma, Hawaii, England, Kansas, and Germany, where she currently resides with her husband, three children, and two Huskies. She also earned her Master of Arts in Teaching, Elementary Education, from Kansas State University.
In her free time, Kelly enjoys hiking, reading, travelling, spending time with her friends, and building LEGO with her family.
