Description: Slender creeping herb, rooting at nodes. Leaves narrow. Flowers in spikes. Spikelets sessile laterally compressed, 2-seriate, one flowered. Glumes 2, thin, lanceolate, persistent. Lemmas boat shaped, pubescent. Paleas 2-keeled, containing a bisexual floret. Lodicules 2, small. Stamens 3. Styles 2, free. Grain oblong.

Uses: It has antiviral and anti microbial properties, used to treat cough, headache, convulsions, dropsy, epilepsy, hypertension, rubella, cancer, etc.
