462 Commer Van Combex Promotion
In 1970 it is believed that a few of these were produced for a company that Corgi were associated with. However, details are not clear and the firm appears to have gone out of business shortly afterwards. The illustration is a copy I have made of what is occasionally sold for a small fortune (in a slightly darker grey)
462 Commer 'Hammonds' Van
Issued for just a short period in 1971, this is the non-detachable van produced in the Hammonds' store colours.
These have cast wheels and a red interior, with no Trans-o-lite headlamps.
462 Commer Co-op Van
Included here for reference only is the Commer '462' van in Co-op livery. It was issued as a model that could be obtained by saving points in Co-operative shops and was posted in a plain folded cardboard wrapper. This promotion ran for a few months in 1970 and the Milk Float was also available and a Co-op livery Scammell Cab and Trailer.
The Co-op van can be distinguished by the Co-op stickers and cast wheels.
466 Commer Milk Float
April 1964 - 1966
This model is different to those found in the Construction Gift Set 24, having a fixed rear section and no milkman character.
A version of this with Co-op stickers and cast wheels was issued as a model which could be purchased with Co-operative shop points as a promotion that included a van and a Scammell cab and trailer in 1970.
479 Commer 'Samuelsons Film Service' Mobile Camera Van
December 1967 - 1971
This model came with a camera, camera man and these could be placed on a tray attached either to the rear or to the roof. Always in metallic grey-blue but scarce models have a white interior instead of blue. There should also be a black opening case with this model.
The early editions had shaped wheels. Later models had cast wheels.
1126 Ecurie Ecosse Racing Transporter
October 1961 - 1965
This was also a Commer vehicle. The only Major with steering, first issued in October 1961 both individually and in Gift Set 16 with three racing cars.
The early issues were dark blue with yellow lettering. Then dark blue with light blue lettering and the last ones were pale blue with dark blue lettering. Interiors are usually lemon but the darker blue editions are known with brown and the pale blue edition may have red but these variations are scarce.
There is also a different treatment of the silver painting at the front, with some models having just the grille and emblem painted, others having a more extended area and additional highlighting.
