Karrier
455 Karrier Bantam Truck
January 1957 - 1960
Blue with a red platform and always with smooth wheels. This is one of two items which had been produced by Mettoy Playcraft prior to the Corgi range beginning. Below is the red Pre-Corgi model, issued without windows in the early 1950s with CWS transfer on the rear panel.
411 Karrier Bantam 'Lucozade' Van
August 1958 - 1962
The first truck or car to have an opening feature. (Only the Pony Trailer had anything similar).
There appear to be two versions of the Lucozade Van. One has three open sections in the chassis, the other has these closed.
So far all the examples I have seen with open sections have had a black base and smooth fixed wheels.
Those with filled sections have a grey base and shaped fixed wheels.
413 Karrier Mobile Butcher's shop
October 1960 - 1964
This shop has Mobile Butchers Shop stickers and a colourful metal insert.
Both smooth and shaped fixed wheels were fitted to this model.
I have seen two types of base for this model:
grey with rivet with SHOP text
grey with metal twist with VAN text
Late editions also have suspension, although the 413 number appears to be retained, not 413S.
There is also a late edition which has the grey base with SHOP text, rivet and suspension. This edition always has shaped fixed wheels.
428 Karrier Ice cream Van 'Mr Softee'
March 1963 - 1965
Some rare early editions had shaped wheels but most of these models had free-spinning shaped wheels.
471 Karrier Mobile Canteen 'Joe's Diner'
March 1965 - 1966
Joe's Diner was issued as Patates Frites for the European market. It had a Trans-o-lite system that lit up the sign on the front.
All models had shaped wheels.
See the Military section for the Karrier as a US Army Snack Bar.
