350 Thunderbird Guided Missile and trolley
May 1958 - 1962
July 1958 - 1963 (GS3)
The English Electric Thunderbird missile on an RAF blue trolley. The missile could be silver, white or duck-egg blue with a red rubber nose-cone which will almost certainly have perished or lost shape by now. Good replacements are usually fitted.
1106 Karrier Airfield Radar Van
January 1959 -1961
The Decca Mobile Airfield Radar Van had two versions. One had five vertical orange stripes, the other four.
Smooth fixed wheels.
1112 Corporal Guided Missile on Launching Ramp
June 1959 - 1961 (1112)
October 1959 - 1962 (1113)
October 1960 - 1961 (1124)
An impressively big JPL Firestone Corporal Missile, always in white with red rubber (or now plastic replacement) nose-cone and red paint to sides of flight vanes.
Early editions had a simple nose-cone. Later editions had a different type which included a metal section into which caps could be included to make an explosive noise when set off. This element could be bought separately so it may have been fitted to early editions too by owners. Replacement cones, however, do not easily cater for this device and original ones will have dissolved or perished by now.
The Missile was available with the ramp as 1112 and with an Erector Vehicle as 1113. It was also available in GS9.
The ramp was available individually as 1124 for a short period only, one of Corgi's shortest known production periods.
1117 Bloodhound Missile Trolley
February 1959 - 1961 (trolley + missile)
December 1959 - 1961 (1109 trolley only)
This quite complex trolley was designed to carry the Bristol Bloodhound missile, towed by an Army Truck or Land Rover. It included a feature to slide and lock the missile in position for transport as well as to position it on the launch ramp. the trolley was always khaki in colour.
