Description: Erect or diffuse herbs with fibrous roots. Leaves 1-4 x 0.5-1.2 cm, ovate-lanceolate, base cordate and semi-amplexicaul, apex acute; sheath c.1 cm long, ciliate at mouth. Flowers c.6 mm across, in few-flowered terminal and axillary panicles; bracts to 2 mm long, ovate; pedicel 3-5 mm long, filiform. Sepals 3-3.5 mm long, ovate-oblong. Petals bluish or violet, 3-4 mm long, oblong. Fertile stamens 3, filaments bearded; staminodes 2. Ovules 3 in each cell. Capsule 4-5 mm long, oblong, trigonous. Seeds 3 in each cell, c. 1 mm, angular, cuboid, rugose, light brown.
