Description: Bark grey with black prickles, bark of the young branches greyish green, branches soft and lighter. Leaves compound with large 3-leaflets, Flowers red or orange in dense clusters, leafless while blooming/flowering.
Flowering and fruiting: March- April
Uses: Different parts of the plant have been used in medicine as nervine sedative ,collyrium in opthalmic and as an astringent. The alkaloids extracted from the leaves are reported to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity.
