Habitat: Garden plant.
Description: The plant is a small herb which arises from the tuberous rhizome, it reaches up to a height of 2 feet. The mound of rosette leaves can spread to form a broad mass. Primary roots are fleshy, thickened and fusiform. Stem is short in height. Leaves are glabrous and green in color. The leaves have alternate arrangement and they are persistent. Linear-lanceolate in shape. The leaf lamina can be entire or slightly undulate margined. Flowers are terminal racemes , solitary and colorless. The whorl of 3 ovate petals alternates with a whorl of 3 lanceolate sepals, 6 stamens, flowers are persistent and have single ovary. The plant produces small 3 celled capsules. These fruits have a characteristic leathery texture. Each cell bears 3-5 flat black seeds.
