As usual we measure out our year in gigs. That and holidays and family visits. This year we had a few classics. We went to see Death Cab For Cutie at the Royal Albert Hall. Such an intimate space - amazing! And when he sang 'I Will Follow You Into the Dark' everybody turned on the lights on their phones and held them up like candles. Magic.
After that visit to the Albert Hall we decided to go to our first Prom. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony no less. That was brilliant too. The choir were so loud!
A few new discoveries this year. Frankie Archer has a combination of folk song and electronics which works really well. We saw This Is The Kit for the first time at Folk By The Oak. Also new for us at Folk By The Oak was Nick Hart, who sings traditional songs in a clear and straightforward way. What was really encouraging was that the audience were spellbound and shouted for an encore.
We saw The Furrow Collective at a newish venue in London called The Grand Junction. The space was very atmospheric and the band were wonderful, as always.
