In June we went back to the Lake District. We’d been pining for the hills for a while, so we took a house near Bassenthwaite for a week. As usual the weather was amazing (see the BBC weather app picture). We must have done something to please the weather gods once.
Our knees etc are currently a bit on the wonky side, so we didn’t do any big mountains - the only one of note was Ullock Pike. We did a few classic ‘round the lake’ walks though - Buttermere and Derwentwater.
We also visited an exhibition about Wainwright in Keswick. We took a picture of his desk - note the Three Nuns tin (the same tobacco as Mike’s dad smoked).
When we were walking round Buttermere, Kate heard a splash, and saw an osprey catch a fish and fly off with it! Amazing! So that’s three ospreys this year then!

The view from our house window - we couldn’t stop photographing it.
