Mike went to Cardiff with his brother David, to do a little family research in the Cardiff street directories, and to pick up a copy of a video of a wedding that all the Boursnells went to in 1966 from a friend of the family. Both goals were successfully achieved! We pinned down the houses where our grandfather Griffith William Griffiths, who was in a clothiers business with his brother David Evan Griffiths, once lived, This allowed us to identify the correct David Griffiths (there were lots of them!) in the online records from the First World War. It turns out he was in the King's Liverpool Regiment, and was involved in the Battles of the Somme and various other serious battles. It also turns out that the family story, that he slipped on a duck-board and was invalided home, seems to be true.
The video featured the whole Boursnell family for about five seconds only, walking up to the church, but it was lovely to see it. You can also see my dad given a speech, but sadly there is no sound!

By a tree near Waterloo Gardens, where our grandparents lived. We scattered some of Ma's and Peter's ashes there.
