In October we went on a rather hastily-arranged holiday in Tuscany. We occasionally think we’ll go somewhere more intrepid (Kate is hankering after an Icelandic holiday) but at the end of the year all we want is somewhere to go and relax, cook nice food, drink wine, and forget about all our tasks back at home.
Most of the places we visited were ones which we had been to before, but in fact that’s even more relaxing: no need to worry if you have seen every church - just stroll around, take a few pictures, drink lots of coffee.
One highlight was when we saw someone repainting the ceiling of a church in Montalcino.
An element of excitement was introduced by the fact that our holiday house was at the end of a 20 minute drive on a ‘dirt road’. Lots of pretending to be rally drivers! We managed to get it down to 14 minutes!
