Mike:
In March I got a letter from a lady, Bethan Jones, from my mum’s old chapel (Minny Street) in Cardiff. They were putting up a memorial stone to her sister Mair, who was a missionary in Madagascar.
My mum said “we must go” so we did! David came over from France so we made a threesome. One snag: the whole service was in Welsh and only one of us spoke Welsh - my mum.
But the service was great, and they kindly did a small section in English for the foreigners. It reminded us of when we used to go to Minny Street as small boys visiting our Mamgu in Cardiff.
It was very moving for my mum - particularly to revisit the chapel she knew so well, and where she was married. And even at the age of 92, her Welsh was still fine!
