In October we decided we really needed a holiday. We'd put off organising one for ages, so Mike went on line and in about half an hour had booked a flat and flights to the South of France - Antibes. Why did we put it off? We'd wanted to go near Nice after we'd visited it a couple of years ago.
The old town of Antibes was delightful. We went to the Picasso Museum there, and just wandered round looking at the market and the buildings. We also walked along by the harbour, festooned with ridiculously sized yachts! Some of them had about five storeys! We also went to a lovely Bonnard Museum nearby to Antibes (see pictures below).
Mike was keen to go to Juan Les Pins, mainly because it featured in Peter Sarstedt's song, but it was very touristy, and we'd forgotten our carefully-designed topless swimsuits...
There was a very nice coast path round the Cap D'Antibes, with beautiful lagoons and crashing waves.
One encouraging thing about the holiday was that we really enjoyed it, even though it rained a lot! I'm sure that's a good thing. At the end of the week we nearly floated away in our tiny Fiat 500 on the way back to the airport - we've never seen rain quite like it!
