The event that started it all was Kate finding signs of woodworm in our loft! Eeek! So she contacted the woodworm people and they said it needed to be treated, and that they could spray it, but we had to completely clear out the loft first! Double eeek! We had years of stuff up there. Dozens of years. Decades. Half centuries... Oh dear...
So... our plan was to move everything down into the garage first. 'Good plan' you're thinking. There was a tiny flaw. Well, two tiny flaws...The garage was a bit damp, and it was already full! Sigh....
So we decided to turn a setback into an opportunity (sigh!) and get the garage upgraded. So we did that first, and then moved everything down, and then imposed some order on it (always good to help reduce the increasing entropy of the universe) and then get rid of some stuff and put the rest back up there. Or some of it anyway. Which we did (mostly - we weren't incredibly good about getting rid of things. I mean I can't bear to get rid of my Bob Dylan poster...).
And it all seemed to dominate our year somehow. But we do feel better for it, honestly.

Kate painting the door frame. More patient than Mike!
The finished Sarnafil roof. Lovely!
The loft after quite a bit of clearing...
First stage, move stuff to Chris's old bedroom...
A clear loft! Have you ever seen such a thing? It's a miracle!

Look at this! Doesn't that make your heart sing?
Couldn't give Bob away I'm afraid.

We sold four Apple Macintosh Classics! (Don't ask why we had four...)

One of the posters we couldn't throw away.
