We had two trips to Glasgow. The first time was when we rashly offered to cat sit for John and Holly. We had this idea that we could potter around Glasgow and visit old haunts. Actually we did do that, but two visits so close together were a bit silly, particularly as we went by train on the first one, and there were huge delays on the way up, because a tree had fallen on the line. A two hour wait outside Newcastle! We had to take an alternative route across the country to Carlisle. Delightful countryside and views of Hadrian's Wall in someone's garden, so not all bad - silver linings etc...
We had a good time strolling up and down Byres Road, although the fact that Mike's old place of work, The Virology Institute, had been knocked down was a bit of a shock. We also visited Kelvingrove Museum and had a look at the Scottish Colourists.
The second trip was just to see the family, and we didn't dare risk the trains, so went by car. I think the journey went well, although the M74 might have been closed - my brain has blanked it out....
