Solutions to Race Gaps in Elementary Schools

On September 27th, the Unit 4 School Board announced on an email about their plans to help close the race gaps in elementary schools. It has a lot of parents and kids concerned on how they may be affected by these changes.

We’ll be Seeing More Hurricanes like Ian

If you’ve been watching a national weather channel any time in late September, you’ve most likely caught wind of the monstrous Category 4 hurricane Ian. Rapidly intensifying at its point of origin, Ian blew through the Caribbean into the Gulf of Mexico and soon made landfall on Cuba, knocking out power before turning its eye to Florida.

Mahsa Amini and the Protests in Iran

The feminist movement in Iran began on September 16th, 2022 due to the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. On September 13th, Mahsa Amini was stopped by the morality police, a part of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces who impose restrictions on dress codes for women, for wearing her hijab incorrectly.

Updated Student ID Policy

Last year, the rule that all students at Central were expected to wear their student IDs on lanyards at all times while in the building took effect. This rule had been required of staff and visitors for years, but was put into place for students as an extra precaution of security.

Queen Elizabeth II: A Royal Parting

Queen Elizabeth II died at 96 years old on September 8th, 2022. According to The New York Times, the death occurred around 3:10 pm BST (9:10 am CST) at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and was announced from Buckingham Palace in London at 6:30 pm (12:30 pm CST).
