It’s time to gear up for theater season, because the drama club at Central high school is in full swing this semester. They have plans on running a straight play called Rumors and the hit jukebox musical, Mamma Mia, in the coming months.
Rumors follows the plight of four couples. During his tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in a room while his lawyer Ken and wife Chris must get the story straight before the other guests begin to arrive. Mamma Mia narrates the story of a young bride named Sophie who lives with her single mom on the fictional Greek island Kalokairi. Before her wedding, she discovers the identity of three men who are all her potential fathers and she decides to invite them to the ceremony.
Rehearsals for Rumors have already started and the deadline for Mamma Mia auditions ended on January 21. Performances will show on February the 24th, 26th, and 27th. Come see the shows if you’d like to support the performing arts here at Central. Keep an eye out for The Chronicle’s reviews on both productions!
