For this senior spotlight, we are going to be featuring Carson-Gavin Nuñez. An accomplishment that Carson is most proud of is the fact that he is now more social than he used to be. Throughout his 4 years at Central High School, Carson has taken up many extra curricular activities, including Marching Band (where he played the clarinet for two years) and orchestra, where he played cello. He was also a member of the Varsity Swim Team, although during the first 2 years of his high school career he was on JV. He was also a vice president of the French Honor Society, as well as one of the chairs of Central’s Asian American Association. The activity that he enjoyed the most was Marching Band, which was the first new thing he tried in high school. He stated that it was a good way to introduce him to Central.
After high school, Carson plans to become a nurse by going to school at Illinois State University. In 10 years, he sees himself as an anesthesiologist in New York City, which is really cool! A favorite memory from Central was being on the swim team, and it made him like Central more because of the culture of the group. The thing that he’s going to miss the most at Central are his classmates, because they might not have the time to see each other after high school, which hits really hard when you think about it. If he had the opportunity to go anywhere in the world, Carson would go to the Netherlands, which I think is a wonderful place to visit as it is famous for its bulb fields, windmills, and cheese markets. Three words that Carson thinks describes himself best are awkward, doubtful, and quirky. Something that he would like to be remembered for is to be that one kid in the hallway who dressed nice, which I found to be funny. Carson listed a very interesting 3 things that he must do in his lifetime: visit the 7 Wonders, go skydiving, and work 24 hours straight at a Chick-Fil-A or a Waffle House.
I think that Carson has a bright future, and I can see him working as a nurse. He is like one of those funny nurses who know how to make patients laugh whenever they are feeling scared or upset. He seems like a nice and very active person, who would be good at helping people. As the 2021-22 school year comes to an end, we’re sad to see Seniors like Carson go, but excited to see how they will impact their community in the future.
