Today we will be making flower syrup inspired by Alexis Nikole (@theblackforager) on Instagram! The syrup includes yellow flowers that grow on a bush called a forsythia.
Here’s how to make the syrup:
Gather flowers off of the bush. Fill a large mug or a bowl with roughly 1-2 cups of loose flowers.
Boil 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat right after it comes to a boil. For a thicker syrup, use a little more sugar or less water.
Pour the boiling mixture into your cup of flowers. Let it sit for an hour or two.
Come back and strain the remains of the flowers out. Then, enjoy your syrup! It has a beautiful yellow color and has a very pleasant and mildly sweet taste.
