Nothing beats freshly baked cookies. Whether it is chocolate chip cookies or snickerdoodles, cookies always have a way of making life a little bit happier. So, as winter began to come to a close, I knew I wanted to make cookies. However, as I opened my fridge I noticed that I was missing a crucial ingredient: butter. So, I asked myself the question: is it possible to make yummy cookies without it? So I began to look up recipes online, and I found one for chocolate sugar cookies. I had never tried chocolate sugar cookies before, so I decided to try them.
For my cookies I used this recipe: www.thefrugalsouth.com. Once I had made the dough, I scooped them out by tablespoons and rolled them in sugar. I then put them in the oven for 8 minutes, and they were perfectly done. They ended up having a chocolate and cinnamon flavor, which I really liked, and even without butter, I still thought they tasted great!
Senior Adele Miller also liked the cookies. She said that she is “not always a big fan of chocolate and cinnamon together because the cinnamon can sometimes overpower the chocolate.” However, Miller said that she liked the cookie. “I love any cookie rolled in sugar because it adds an extra crunch,” says Miller. Anna Roessler, a senior at Central, also liked the cookies. Roessler says that she “loves the sugar on the outside.” Additionally, freshman Cesca Smith said that the cookies had, “great texture and the perfect amount of sweetness.”
All in all, I think the cookies were a success. While I was at first nervous about baking cookies without butter, I found it is possible to make delicious cookies without it. I would highly recommend this recipe for anyone wanting to make cookies. It is easy, fun, and all without butter.
