Senior Spotlight: Alexa Sutton

There are many notable seniors at Central High school. They have remarkable academics, outstanding athletics, and are thought of fondly by their classmates. One of those seniors is Alexa Sutton, who close friends know as Lexa.

Sutton, who has been involved in softball since her middle school days, says her proudest accomplishment “is being a 2x Offensive Player of the Year for Central Varsity softball.”

Not only is she one of Central’s Softball team’s captains, Sutton is also “part of Central's Creative Writing Club and Art Club, a member of the National Art Honors Society and National Honors Society, a volunteer at a local bookstore, a player on a travel softball team, and an assistant coach of a recreational softball team during the summer.”

But, “being a part of the softball community has always been one of my favorite things, so playing and coaching softball is by far some of my favorite extracurricular activities”, says Sutton.

Getting to know her more personally, Sutton says “I would describe myself as determined, studious, and kind.”

“If I had the opportunity to travel anywhere, I would like to travel to Rome, Italy. It is so full of rich history, art, and delicious food, and it is a place that is on my bucket list to go to one day”, says Sutton.

Sutton also states that, “three things I must do in my lifetime include experiencing the Northern Lights in person, going scuba diving, and publishing a book.”

Looking to the future, Sutton plans “to attend a four-year college and become a writer/journalist.”

If you think that's ambitious, wait until you see her in 10 years as she may “have published a book or two of [her] own, and… be attending law school!”

“After I graduate from CHS, I am going to miss all of the people I met through sports and all of the friends I made along the way”, says Sutton.

Looking back on high school memories Sutton says, “My favorite memory at Central was taking Weightlifting instead of PE for the first semester of my senior year, with my friends Bri and Paulina. We were wildly out of our comfort zone, but we ended up having a lot of fun.”

On coursework, Sutton remarks, “that AP BC Calculus has been my favorite class at Central. Although it has been challenging and demanding at times, I enjoy the fast-paced curriculum and the fact that I am learning so much!”

“I hope that I am remembered at CHS as being a role model, in which I worked very hard, was true to myself, and was kind to others. I hope that I will leave a legacy as being a difference-maker, and a good student” says Sutton.

To future students, “go slightly outside of [your] comfort zone! You will never know what kind of success can come out of taking risks unless you put yourself out there”, finished Sutton.

Alexa Sutton is a true representation of the kinds of people who make an impact wherever they go. Whether that's in the classroom, on the softball field, or out in the world of literature, Sutton is sure to spread love and kindness wherever she goes.
